I prefer the perforated pipe.
If you want to really know what kind of animals are on your property put a trail cam on the dam. It's amazing what all you will capture crossing the dam.

Seriously, They will go behind that short pipe that dude has and build another levee, then another and another.
We fought them for months, took 5 joints of 8 feet sewer pipe (40 feet) broke the damn and dug deep into the middle of damn & put our pipe in and covered it up so we had no rushing water. then went two both side and busted out to have rushing water for them to fix.
gotta get pipe out further and further.
