The race stuff was very mild compared to just about any other movie or tv show these days. Didn’t read the book to know if race was a large component to the narrative, but got the impression that the racial aspects were just shoehorned in because nothing can go out without some sort of messaging regardless of how superfluous. Because I had heard the ending sucked I had very low expectations and was actually okay with the ending. Wouldn’t hate if they picked up where they left off with a sequel. But highly doubt they will. It doesn’t appear to be about the post apocalypse but rather illustrating just how fragile we are as a society.
