When I first setup my BlueBubbles server I told my family members who refused to download any other app that I was only communicating via e2e encryption from that point on. I have an automatic rule for SMS that does not deliver my message to me and sends a message to anyone that sends me an SMS that basically says "This person has turned off SMS communication due to it's unencrypted nature, they will not receive your message, please use e2e encryption to communicate with this user if you need to get a hold of them"

For the 3-4 of them that refuse to download anything else, if for some reason my "Blue Bubbles" ever went away (it shouldn't I have my own Mac Mini doing something Beeper will never be able to do, and it's a lot more "legit" than Beeper, but I digress), they will have to call me I guess, because I'm not turning off my rule because they are too lazy to contact me in a more secure way.

Even before e2e encryption was a big thing, I always insisted to say... my Mom, to send me things on Facebook because of the horrible quality of Videos and Photos. It's just become a common practice. RCS will fix a lot of the quality issues, but it won't fix the e2ee, so I will leave the rule up for non-e2ee RCS early next year when it's added to iMessage as well.

Had Apple actually cared about their users security they would have used the e2ee RCS, but they obviously don't really care that much.
