For the "But they left FSU out" people

The problem is not SEC bias. The problem has been the reluctance for the powers that be to move on from the old school bowl system and give us a real playoff.
If there are 5 Power 5 Conferences and only 4 CFP spots, that already starts you from a place of leaving conference champ out. What if all 5 were undefeated? Someone would still be left out without an opportunity to prove themselves on the field. It is why it is good that we move to a 12-team playoff next year.

You were listening to ESPN radio!

Actually I wasn't. Did they say that, too? My wife won't let me turn the radio off Christmas music ??

But that didn't happen.

There’s still going to be controversy. When it moved to 4 people said “well number 5 doesn’t really have an argument to be number 1 anyway” while ignoring that they don’t need an argument to be 1, they just need an argument to be 4.
Every time it expands you exponentially increase the number of teams with a case to be in. But it will be a made for TV event and people will lap it up.

Not the point. Stay focused on my comment. I am not debating if FSU should be in or out. I have already done that plenty on here, and you can go read that.
The problem is bigger than FSU

nobody wants to hear that but it's true.
Plus, all the FSU people and admins are blaming the SEC bias and Sankey, yet the ACC is the one that voted for the Alliance, against the 12-team starting this year, and approved that shitty ESPN contract. They apparently really pissed off a lot of people with their poor me pity show saying they are underpaid and should be with the big boys.
They need to look in the mirror and get out of their shitty conference.

The SEC "champ" lost a game, the ACC Champ did not.

I agree in principle, but this is not basketball. I think we all know that in football, once you get down to 12 to 16 teams, those are a collections of teams that could have a real claim to say they can be competitive for a title. Not all really will have a real shot, but the probability that you have gotten the best is better by having 12-16 teams in. Beyond that, we are just appeasing people. Even with LSU, our offense can compete with anyone. But, our defense is not going to hold up in a playoff. I don't know if CBK can keep pulling out Cover 2 with underneat trail technque schemes every week. Maybe, we see the Annexation of Puerto Rico in the bowl game. So, while it would suck to be left out at #13, I would understand being left out if there were a 12 team playoff this year. I could see the argument for us being in over Missouri, though. I can see both sides.
You need so much more to be successful in football. In basketball, a great guard can get you a long way in the tournament.

But THEY’RE NOT. FSU got screwed because committee didn’t think their QB could handle it.
The Committee claimed they wanted the 4 best teams, but put Washington in instead of UGA and had Michigan at #1. Ohio State is also better than Washington. Conference championships and records matter. There has to be some level of system here. With USC in 2003 they lost a game. FSU did everything that was asked.
They flat out lied. They thought FSU would be a dud because they didn’t think their 2nd string could handle it.

Undefeated doesn’t matter if you’re not a top four team. If Alabama lost SEC Georgia would be in. Florida State would still be out. Note that Florida State #5 and Georgia #6. They play in Orange Bowl and Georgia is 14 point favorite. Rankings skewed.

in a fair world, FSU would get in. but the playoff is about entertainment.

quote:Nope. Texas is only in because they had to be in order to include Alabama. If Georgia had won the 4 undefeated teams would have been in, even though Alabama with two losses would still be “one of the best four”.

Facts! To add to your facts, if people would look up the members of the committee, most have ACC ties, including some who have FSU ties. The only one with SEC ties is Rod West, who graduated from LSU. You think he wanted to vote for Bama?

FSU has no one to blame but themselves. Their athletic director voted “NO” to expanding the amount of teams in the playoffs

I agree in principle, but this is not basketball.
If a team makes it to the final four and is undefeated, lose the star of the team, they are not relegated to leave their spot.

I understand your points here, and I have already laid out my thoughts and stats to explain why. Go read those in other threads.
My point here is that the problem is NOT a one year problem. It is a bigger problem than wwhat happened to FSU.
