So say a man works for 10-20 years building up his 401k, making all the right financial decisions, etc. and his stay-at-home wife screws around on him. Divorce is the obvious recourse but she walks away with half of his shite, and likely an alimony payment, too!
Just watched this first hand in 2020.
The one thing I never thought about is all the women who were married before this dual income transition was made. They have no skills.
So while she walked away with half (moron because she let him keep the house) she cannot live the rest of her life on what she was given. I doubt most women could. She has no money management skills, never did any of the work with the bills etc. It was like she was completely unprepared for the world at 55 years old.
The rest of her life will be a struggle.

I heard this as well from the same friend I mentioned above. Wife has no skills and he knew she would struggle. So he knew she would find another man to make life easier and then his kids have another man in their lives.
I would also think imagining your kids seeing the mom struggling to make a living wage would affect you as well. It would me.
