Had a friend go through this. He couldn’t stand the idea of not being with his kids every day but he told me the biggest reason was he couldn’t fathom his kids being around another father figure (boyfriend or stepdad). When you’re helping to raise a kid, you can influence them a lot, good or bad. He said he just couldn’t live knowing some other dude was with his kids half the time. I get it. Fact is, it’s a terrible situation. They are still together and seem happy enough. Would he have been happier leaving? Who knows?
