Don't judge Saban and Bama by how they look in the Iron Bowl because a different monster always comes out of that cave.
Meanwhile Harbaugh and Michigan lay an egg every year and they haven't done that yet.
And finally, the SEC has done really, really well in these first round playoff games. In 9 years the SEC has a 10-1 record and the average score is something like 42-17. That's an insane record against top 4 teams. You give the coaching staff of the best SEC team a month to prepare with everything on the line and watch out.

I’d argue win or lose on both sides that the game is basically irrelevant from a measuring stick standpoint when played at JH.
Individual matchups don’t matter, record doesn’t matter and ridiculous plays often determine who wins.
It’s just it’s own thing that happens every other year and everyone moves on confused about what happened and how.
