Term limits just further enable career staff to run government (either partisan or not).
The unelected have no business running the government, and yet they do.
And the attitude of these unelected assholes - that the great unwashed are too stupid to know how things “get done.”
No. We’re not stupid. We see you. We see how you’re “getting things done.” And it’s the exact opposite way that things should be done.
Again the only people who should be “term limited” are members of the executive branch, and anyone else who is unelected. Down to Congressional staffers and judicial law clerks. Our government is currently run by faceless administrators who are accountable only to the gargantuan corporate oligarchy that they will join once they demonstrate their usefulness.
ETA - right now I have a lawsuit against Wells Fargo. These mammoth banks all have arbitration clauses in their “agreements” with their customers that subject them to arbitration when they frick over their customers. Wells Fargo sucks the most, but all of them have it.
Then, the customer who has gotten fricked over by its “bank” gets doubly fricked by a bunch of unelected/unaccountable “arbitrators” in a process that is entirely regulated by Big Banks. (Arbitrators selected by Big Banks. Procedures written by Big Banks. No accountability to either. No appeal. No exposure). The Federal Arbitration Act is a curse and Arbitrations should only be permissible in arms length transactions.
These monstrosities are currently legislator, police, judge, jury and executioner of an entire chunk of our rights.
They do it precisely bc they can, and you’ll see more of this kind of crap with term limited legislators. They’ll move on from fricking over people with no representation in the administrative rule making, to straight up dictating legislation passed by “elected” ESG approved representatives.
Term limits are a terrible idea for elected officials. You’ll have a bunch of Joe Bidens who are the sock puppets of God only knows who. We see how that’s going now . . .
Congress staffers should be internships only.
Term limits are the exact opposite way of making government accountable.
