Finished the Alistair Taylor book.

Aside from the factoid that John's father attended the MMT wrap party, it was notable mostly for AT detailing what a bitch Linda M. was (especially to her servants). I already knew that, but AT provided more anecdotal evidence.

Aside from the new Peter Brown there are at least two other Beatle insider memoirs: one by an Apple secretary & another by Geoffrey Ellis, a NEMS office man from almost the beginning & even more of a mystery than Neil Aspinall, as he is almost never mentioned by anyone ever (apparently he disliked the Beatles music & especially hated John). His book is supposedly very dry (the AT was chattily gossipy) but I hope to read both it & the secretary soon.

Got ahold of the new Peter Brown

Curiously, it has an interview w/Alistair Taylor, who as I wrote is barely mentioned in The Love You Make.

Also related to what I wrote before, Brown has no doubt as to his own status. As he says in the intro, "I was Brian's best friend".

Considering Epstein, Brown, G. Ellis were all homos (as is co-author Gaines) there is an ever present subtext to the book, adding an undertone to Taylor's "I was not as close to Brian as Peter was."

Those wearying of my Beatle book updates may get some relief soon. Thinking about taking a break from the subject -- getting kinda Beatled out.
