It all started when they joined the Old Row Southeastern Conference from a fledgling SWC, B12.

They were out the nest and no longer under the nose of their historic big brother. And they began sizing up who they could become in the SEC.

Enter Louisiana State University. Geographically close in proximity. Share several recruiting trails (Houston), and both passionate about football.

They thought they could compare, compete and complete what LSU has done over the years. They thought they could bring all of the extra curricular traditions we love to hate with them. And they thought that they could at the very least compete like an LSU in the vaunted SEC West.

You could tell from not only the excitement but the ego as they joined this very site. But the inflated ego, lack of self awareness, and utter cringe they brought with them turned sour, if not, tacky. Very tacky. Quick.

Over the years they learned that not only could they not duplicate what LSU had done; but they couldn't even come close or even compete against them. Posting a 3-10 record against who they though they would be.

Now, after firing the only coach to post a winning record against who they thought they would become, it is only their very own hubris celebrating their newest coaching hire.

Delusions of grandeur. I actually pity them.
