I sold an older Android phone that I wasn't using on FB Marketplace for $100 and got a message from a lady immediately wanting to buy it. No haggling at all. She lived in the same city so I told her to meet me at Walmart.

She shows up and texts me that her boyfriend's going to make the transaction and he gets out of the car, sketchy as hell, takes the phone, hands me $100 bill and bounces. I did not have a good feeling afterwards since it all took place so fast.

It looked legit and I went online and was trying to see if it was real. Nothing out of the ordinary. I even had my FIL look at it and he said it looked real.

Went to the bank on Monday to deposit at the drive through and they told me to come in. They told me it was a counterfeit bill and I thought I was going to be in deep shite. I was showing everyone there the messages between us and they really weren't too concerned about it.

I ran an offset printing press while I was in graduate school. The guy who ran the place told me that no printer who ever ran a press hasn’t tried to print some money. I asked him if he had and he walked into his office and brought some really good ten dollar bills. Strangely, they all had the same serial number.

He laughed and said it ain’t that hard until you get caught and eventually you will get caught. He said to be careful to not pass one on a mob guy because they will hunt you down for $10.00 and hurt you bad when they catch you.

It was funny because he had one finger mangled.

Yeah, it seems like counterfeiting was a much bigger deal back in the day. Now it seems like counterfeit cash is everywhere and no one really gives too much of a shite about it.
