If you want to run a complex defense in college football, you have to be a great teacher and have to be able to adjust to your players. You can’t be inflexible and lack creativity.

He also has a read and react style, which is also more difficult for college players. It is difficult to play that way and still play physical and maintain aggression. How many time did we see out guys reacting slowly, waiting for the play to come to them, or looking like they didn’t know where to go?

Part of the reason to move on is to bring in a coach with an aggressive mindset and a scheme that works with the practice time and younger players you have in college football.
