I cant believe it especially looking at the beginning of the year. Maybe they will finally bring a state title home. In the past 3 years they've lost 2 Football state titles and 2 baseball state titles.

Salmen got screwed in the end...got it to the one-inch line with five seconds left...ran a QB sneak for an apparent TD, but the white hat throws a flag for "aiding the runner." Backs them up five yards...on the last play, Shaw tackles the Salmen receiver and grasped the facemask in the process...no call...Shaw wins.
Looking at the replay, the aiding call was horrible and there was definitely a grasping of the facemask...also thought on the long pass to get them to the one yardline that the Salmen WR might have gotten in...maybe not, but it was definitely close.
Congrats to Shaw on the win, but I hate to see a game decided by the officials.

Do you have a link to the replay/video? I'd love to see the call. Talking with a number of officials, each and every one says "aiding the runner" should only be called if it's blatant....ie grabbing the runner and pulling him in the end zone. If the contact "to aid" if from the back....no call.

Its all BS.. Everyone knows Salmen should be in the finals. They are the better team and those referees should feel horrible about what they did to those student athletes. They obviously went into the last two plays knowing they were going to screw the Spartans over. On the aiding the runner call, the referee threw the flag simultaneously with the snap. His hand was on the flag before the play even started. Then the ref missed an obvious facemask that could have been the difference between getting in or not.
I just think its horrible that those kids came this far and i know how they feel because they havent had a great season since the hurricane. I think its horrible that they get their first real chance to win state since 2000 and they get screwed by refs and fall 1 yard short of the dome
