a friend of mine has a similar collection of vehicles that she's been trying to sell ever since her husband died, hard to offload hem en masse without giving them away

If she wants to unload them all an auction is about the only way to go short of hiring someone to prep and market them individually which would probably cost even more than the fees the auction houses charge.
