Guys, hadn't been around TD in a long time. Just wanted to say, this isn't a huge surprise. BC's offense can score on anyone when they avoid turnovers and I knew this game would be a shootout. Just didn't know if the defense could slow Bastrop enough for them to get the win.

Matherne is extremely athletic. This year alone I've seen him return a KO for TD, an INT 100+ yds for TD, and he's something to watch running out of the shotgun. He's got some good receivers - James Wright is really good - but really most of his passing yardage comes on yards after the catch. He is a much better passer this year than he was last year though.

Matherne reminds me of Sammy Martin. Small guy, who can juke anyone. Will be a showdown in the dome. Shaw only beat us by 1 with matherne throwing 4 intercepts. Doubt that happens again. Speed, speed, speed, KILLS.

Unforced turnovers and a missed PAT. Really careless with the ball in that game.
I'd sure like to see Becnel do something different and play 4 down linemen against Shaw's running game.

It was a great game at BC. BC is not big enough to match shaw on the line of srimmage. They know that. They like to spread things out and let the skill players make plays. Bastrop has two Div A defensive lineman. Spread things out, neutrilizes the bigger lineman. Should be a great game on saturday.

BC's defense doesn't match up as well against Shaw because Shaw lines up and plays smash mouth football. Spreading out the d-line against that kind of offense is an exercise in futility. Shaw ran up the gut all night with o-linemen getting easily to the LB's because the front 3 were spread out so much. Their RB's were often getting 4-5 yards upfield before anyone laid a hand on them.

??? I live in BC, but only for a little over 3 years. I've lived all over the WB, but originally from St. Bernard. My daughter graduated from BC in 07 & my son is a freshman there now.

You're right. Belle Chasse cannot stop shaw's running game. But shaw can't matcht BC's speed on offense. What shaw has done this year is awesome. Their coach should win coach of the year. They lost the whole team fom last year. Shaw is still shaw, run it at you until you can stop it. Should be a high scoring game. Will be worth the price of admission.
