No, you are incorrect here. It is 100% not against the law. And the laws are written based on our cultural norms. In fact, many of our grandmothers were married and pregnant by the time they were 17.
And you cannot stretch the term pedophilia to fit every situation that you dont 100% agree with. Thats what people have done with the term racism. Not everything is pedophilia and when you try to paint it that way it does a disservice to efforts to fight against real pedophilia.

There’s so much gray in here that I don’t even know what you’re arguing. Let’s boil it down and you answer:
Under the premise that this girl is under the age of consent (underage), is Giddey:
a) breaking the law
B) not breaking the law
Next question. Under same premise, is Giddey engaging in:
A) pedophilia
B) not engaging in pedophilia
