They're not offering it for New Construction man, I had a class on it a couple of weeks ago and they said the majority of the grants will be given to lower income families as well, I think the new round for applying was opened last week.

I said it then- it's bullshite that the state isn't offering tax incentives on it for new builds.

If everyone builds a fortified roof it will help tremendously. Homes will get much less water damage, most sheathing won't have to be replaced so major storms won't cost insurance companies nearly as much. That should attract more insurance companies back, and the competition will naturally breed lower prices. Especially after s few years of them not getting hammered.

I'm assuming that would help our state insurance fund as well but I'm not versed at all in how that's funded and distributed.

I'm suppose to be at event with Senator Kennedy next month and I'm going to bring it up to him. It's such an easy way to help everyone. Just offer a 5k tax incentive and people will do it left snd right.

Everyone wins, suppliers, contractors, owners, insurance companies and tax payers.
