He is okay for 78, but he is 78.
Everyone naturally slows down as they age. You often don’t realize it yourself since you see and hear things from your own perspective.
There is a lot going on for a color analyst to see in about 5 to 10 seconds that a play takes from snap to whistle. Then you have to articulate what you are seeing to the listeners within another 10 to 20 seconds before the next play.
He does an okay job but is not as observant and descriptive as he once was.
Maybe he’s looking to retire at 80?

I don't know about that. I'm 61 and extremely active, yet I sense the slowdown. It's especially obvious physically, but mental acuity is decreasing, and it's obvious.
