Id be tempted to bail him out. Be waiting outside courthouse, with a Louisville slugger, and take out both knees.

That can be quite devastating. I worked a surgical case on a guy that “fell on stairs” at a Shreveport casino. Both knees smashed from multiple angles so he “fell” multiple times obviously. 6 months later I got called in to another surgical case, same guy another knee smashed.
Later ran into him in the ER. He admitted the 2nd surgery was a beating for missing payment on a loan due to becoming addicted to his pain meds for his knees. Still wouldn’t talk about the 1st beat down though.
