Nope, has to be 10mph or more for them to get any $$. Got a buddies ticket fixed years ago there.
Forest Hill has the same scam but if you’re not over 10 they cite you for a seat belt violation $25. Paid it and a year later get an official letter telling me a bench warrant would be issued if I didn’t pay. Whoever was handling the fines was embezzling the cash, I paid with a cc and faxed (they didn’t have a computer)??them the proof.

I don’t believe that is the case. Do you have the statute on that?

Each time through Pine Prairie mine has “miraculously” been 8mph over the posted speed limit of 35 and it goes to 35 in an absolute hurry. The same sister fricking city cop is sitting behind the same fricking fence row as the last time I passed through. I hate that place.

And this is whether or not you were actually in violation of the seatbelt law?

This is false. You can get a speeding ticket for 1mph over the limit.

The state has a shite ton of LRS 32 codes that deal with traffic violations. Most municipalities pass a local ordinance that mirrors the state LRS 32 codes so when they write the violation they use the local ordinance so they keep the money.

Most go like this
0-10 MPH over = x amount in fines
11-20 = higher than above
So on an so forth.

Yeah, so they just lie.

Was following my wife in her SUV on Hwy 190 a couple years ago. Coming down a bridge I see a cop at the bottom. My cruise control and hers was set on 75 mph. It’s a 70 mph zone. As soon as I saw the cop, I looked at my speedometer and my Garmin GPS, both showing 75 mph and my wife was several car lengths ahead of me and going the same speed. As we pass the cop, he pulls out and hits his lights, goes past me and pulls In behind my wife. Writes her a ticket for 80 in a 70. Baldwin Mayors court fricking scam. I would bet my life that he lied about 80 mph. fricking piece of shite cop. Hope he gets arse cancer.

This only covers the interstate. Every municipality up and down I49 made sure that their town included a piece of the interstate. Sometimes it’s only a 1 mile length. They would then use that 1 mile for speed traps to finance the town. The legislature finally passed the law that anything under 10MPH belongs to the state. But if you are pulled over anywhere else in town that money goes to the town.
