North Texas is a good team with a good coach and a decent program.
That coach is now at Texas Tech. The current HC was an assistant last season. NTU isn't necessarily a bad program. But I doubt they will make very much noise in the AAC.
Ultimately it is a good win because winning is ALWAYS better than losing. But when you look at the box score from this game (and yesterday) one would think LSU would be 2-0 in the tournament with two easy wins.
LSU shot 50% compared to NTU's 32%. That's a HUGE discrepancy. But, much as they did yesterday, they gave up a ton of 3's and second chance points (11 offensive rebounds for NTU to LSU's 6) to allow an opponent to stay in the game.
In two games LSU has shot (nearly) 52% from the field while their opponents have shot 36%. Yet, the point differential is +1 (LSU). It's really, really hard to maintain those shooting % night in and night out, so this team is going to HAVE to get much better on the defensive glass and getting teams off the 3 point line. Otherwise, most good offensive performances are going to be wasted.
