I believe some fluorescent lamp ballasts cause some LED bulbs to burn up and overheat which causes the LED to fail. I think there is a quality difference in LED replacement bulbs. I bought IKEA LED bulbs and they have been failing recently. Some other brands I've used longer haven't deteriorated one bit.
