Disregard the stupid comments.

Yes, this has been an extreme drought and there will be a huge number of trees (several species) not recover from it. Take notice of how many trees that are in a typical "wet" area have turned brown. REASON....they did not develope a deep root system due to being in a "wet" area and during a severe drought, the shallow root system is sucking hind tit looking for water.
Take notice of how many Magnolias are totally brown...they gone.
