I don't know how to explain this to you any other way. It will not connect to my phone. Period. At all.

Drones work on a 2.4 ghz network signal. Have you checked your phone to make sure it is able/set to connect to both 2.4 and 5 ghz networks? It's possible to disable 2.4 network on a phone via the phone's operating system. So if your phone is switched to that setting it would not be able to connect. Many phones will connect to 5ghz networks by default because 5ghz is faster at shorter ranges. Have you tried to connect to the drone (far) away from your home or familiar networks to make sure you aren't getting "interference" from it? There are still lots troubleshooting to be done.

I'll still put my cards on operator error.

This is going to sound insane to you, but you're the one being a dick here. You've already said you're illiterate with electronics. Have you entertained the idea that you could just be wrong here?

The drone isn't magically incompatible with your one phone model. Different devices connect to wifi in different ways. Your tablet just happened to immediately connect. Your phone either needs a setting changed or you need to use a different process to connect that you just don't get.
