Think if you were born in like 1890 in Britain. The empire did in fact cover the globe.

If you lived through the world wars and rebellions, by the time you were ~90 the last great battle won by your country would be to a victory against Argentina over the Falkland islands.

Contrast to the fall of the Roman Empire which took centuries.

For those to think the USA couldn't fall in a matter of decades just watch and see, it may happen in your lifetime.

Many folks say the Roman Empire fell and became the Catholic Church. Some say the British Empire fell and became the world's bank. It looks like if the US empire falls we will become the world's arms dealer.

That's not exactly true, especially in Britain. Within a decade Britain went from being solidly Roman to having no trace of it left.

Soviet Union fell in about 4 years and the grip was way tighter than here. It's still mindblowing how quickly it ended there
