We will never how good JD was because of our poor defense. Joe Burrow had a great defense, JD has none, Sad but true. What if JD had the 2019 defense, LSU could get another championship. We can only dream. JD did improve his second year just like Joe did.

Burrow's defense was not great. It struggled til midseason and ended good not great. They were 31st in total defense nationally.
I think Jayden has earned the Heisman. He's been nearly flawless. Here are reasons it will be difficult:
1. Team record
2. National press still butthurt about Kelly leaving ND for LSU.
3. Georgia State won't move Jayden's needle at all.
4. The other contenders have bigger games AND an extra conference championship game in which to shine.
Jayden had a very good game vs. Alabama before he was knocked out. If LSU had won combined with Florida, he'd be the frontrunner today. A lot of voters wrote him off after Alabama and some may be reluctant to put him back at the top even after last night's masterpiece.
I am pulling for him! He more than deserves it.
