U-17 MYNT SET TO TAKE ON THE WORLD IN INDONESIA: The U.S. Under-17 Men’s Youth National Team will begin its journey at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup on Sunday, Nov. 12 vs. Korea Republic (7 a.m. ET; FS1, Universo). Competing in a world-record 18th U-17 World Cup, the tournament will pit the USA against the world’s best at this age group and serves as an important step in the USMNT development pathway.

The U.S. will continue Group B play vs. Burkina Faso on Wednesday, Nov. 15 (4 a.m. ET; FS1, Universo) and wraps up the group stage against France on Saturday, Nov. 18 (7 a.m. ET; FS1, Telemundo). All three matches will be played at Jakarta International Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup will be broadcast in English on Fox Sports platforms and the Fox Sports app with corresponding authentication. Matches will be broadcast in Spanish on Telemundo platforms and the Telemundo app.

Fans can follow all of the action from Indonesia on ussoccer.com as well as U.S. Soccer Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Our first game starts tomorrow and I didn’t see a thread yet. I know a decent amount about this team so feel free to ask. Frankly I would be happy to get out of the group as I don’t think this is one of our stronger U17 cycles. Players to watch include Berchimas, Soma, and Figueroa. Iran upset Brazil today 3-2.

This tournament should be a good measuring stick on how MLS academies are doing as a whole as this generation of players are ones who have basically grown up in the system

Not just producing outliers

I watched a little of Brazil today, they looked like grown arse men out there

Youth tournaments are so flukey idk what to take away from each cycle except a few standouts possibly moving up to U20 or one day being key contributors to the national team. Berchimas and Soma look the most likely to contribute at the next level imo.

How I think we will line up:
Vasquez-Figueroa-Berchimas
Medina-Soma-Habroune
Miller-Hawkins-Banks-Verhoeven
Ferree

Would prefer Bryce to Vasquez and Corcoran to Medina. Not sure if Tyler Hall is healthy but if he is he might start over Banks.

Did a great job working it down the right half space. Harangi beats the LB and gets in a rolling cross that rebounds to Nimfa who rockets it upper 90, 1-0 USA

Habroune has a fast break that forces a yellow. We don’t do anything on the ensuing free kick.

Nimfa has been the best player on the pitch at 15 and it’s not even close.

We got hit on a dangerous counter and Beaudry makes a solid save at the near post to force a corner

Dangerous scramble in the box in the corner after Beaudry swats it away, Verhoeven clears it away but South Korea controlling possession right now

We are struggling to maintain possession and Korea look dangerous every time we turn it over.

Korean corner, free header at the back post barely missed. Their corners have been very dangerous. Crowd heavily favoring South Korea for obvious (proximity) reasons

We just put another dangerous ball across the box but can’t get a good shite off as Korea is scrambling. They counter and again look dangerous to score. We are now trying to hold onto the ball and slow down play.

Vasquez dribbles from wing and gets a shot off that goes directly at the keeper.

This Korean team is incredibly well drilled on the counter. They also sit pretty deep in a 4-4-2 when we have the ball.

South Korea with another dangerous corner. They are all going to the back post. We need to adjust.

JFC one Korean player dribbled about five of ours and his shot goes off the post.
