Is the juice really worth the squeeze on cases like this? Hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on the case, 2 people committed suicide, 2 incarcerated and lots of lives torn apart because of...turtle poaching?

Yes. Wildlife is a public resource. If there are no penalties and repercussions, people like this will act with impunity until the resource is gone.

Big turtles grow slow, and reproduce late in life. They are extremely vulnerable to exploitation.

These people were ignorant, disgusting poachers, drug addicts, and welfare slobs. The word is better off without them.

This sort of casual attitude about breaking laws, including game and fish laws, are exactly why this backwards arse state stays last in every ranking. Guessing you throw your trash out your truck window and have no issue with trespassing.
