Somewhat related, Rouses has buy a Hormel spiral ham 2.99/lb and get a up to 16 oz frozen turkey free, with a $25 purchase.
The shank or the butt portion?

I use the Smithfield hams to part out and make seasoning ham chunks for beans and soups and the smaller cut-off pieces diced for using in omelet

I've always gotten the shank portion to use and it is a money saver when compared to buying already cut up seasoning ham. It's a $3+ dollar difference in price.

Between now and Christmas is the only time of the year I really buy hams, at this price point is this still a good deal? I know as you get closer to Thanksgiving you can find under $1/lb turkeys (as illustrated by this thread ). But are we not expected to get hams under $2/lb this year?
