For those asking how did he inherit a massive dumpster fire, how about 39 scholarship players on the roster at the outset. A bowl game where a WR was playing QB. He essentially had to rebuild the roster from the ground up. Why do fans think it's that easy to do? It's going to take several recruiting cycles to rebuild this team. That is reality, folks, like it or not.

38 man roster, totally undisciplined team, terrible Pelini hire, recruiting was declining and he basically quit on his team for a money grab 2/3rds of the way through his last season. He was totally dependent on high level coordinators to have have success and when they left he was done. Yes the program was in shambles when he was forced out.
