They would not have gone for it. That was made obvious later when they sent to FG unit on when they thought they did not get the 1st down a play later after the penalty.

While true, that really shouldn't play into the decision because you never know the answer to that.

I don't know why you wouldn't take a 4th and 2 in that situation with the opportunity to hold them with no points. You have the dome behind you. You can take some chances with the play call if you want.
