He’s not wrong. If you miss the 1st one you can still go for it and tie on the 2nd. If you kick the PAT first and miss the 2PT you just lose. If you’re gonna go for 2 at all it makes sense to go ahead and do it on the first TD

Or you kick both times and go to ot. But obviously they didn’t want to do that or they never would have tried the 2 pt conversion
