If I plan something for family and friends at my house, then, no, I don't care if you're running late. There is a catch though. If dinner is at 6 and you're not there by 6:15, we are starting without you. You're still welcome all the same.

Now if it's work related or a reservation at a restaurant or a movie start time, then yeah, that's hard and fast type stuff. You need to be on time.
