I know Im supposed to like it to show how smart and refined I am but after multiple attempts, I really don’t like it.

Hate to burst anybody's bubbles, but I really don't know much about the good Captain.
From what I've heard of Trout Mask, his stuff is generally not my cup of tea (though I will admit his stuff is truly avant garde, unlike say the pop mood music of Pink Floyd, who's fans love to pat themselves on the back for listening to such "progressive" art).
