If you could have any QB not named Brees that ever wore a Saints uniform back for this season at the height of their ability in the NFL who would it beif we're talking just at the height of their abilities, I have to go with Brooks. He was insanely good at first. A lot like what you currently see Daniels doing at LSU now.
A lot depends on what you "need".
Archie gets love, but the fact is he had great skill players and couldn't win. Galbreath, Muncie and Chandler were All Pros.
Hebert wasn't that physically gifted, but he was a winner. He was a winner in the USFL when he faced Kelly, Young, Flutie etc; he came to the Saints and kept winning. I think he just had "presence"; I know he had the benefit of a great D (best in team history), but he won a lot more than you'd expect.
If you mean a long-term replacement for several years, I'd take peak Hebert for 5 yrs. We'd lose in the playoffs, but we'd be in them every year.
