The fine for Contempt of Court becomes meaningless, if it is so small that the contemptuous litigant can pay it from petty cash. To serve its purpose of maintaining the integrity of the judicial system by encouraging the parties to comply with court orders, the fine must be adequately-large to cause some discomfort for the malfeasor.
Is even $10mm enough to get Trump's attention?
