I worked in Richardson for 3 years until Covid while still living in La. Since I was keeping my La home, and bought a second work home “close” to the office to work out of during the week, it was on a budget. Ended up getting a place (sold it a couple years ago now), in Lake Tawakoni which is east of Rockwall. Rockwall was very nice as the closest place we’d drive into to do something.
In 3 years only ran into the I-30 bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard being really backed up / closed a couple of times. I was an early commuter however driving over it around 6:30 am, not sure how bad it gets later in the morning. There is a longer northern route 205/78 but you need to know ahead of time that there is a problem.
In any case it’s not anywhere near as bad as I-10 over the basin.
