Friend,

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I think Bucktown, with its historic roots in both the seafood, music, and political landscape, must remain a separate and independent neighborhood from Old Metairie. We do need to decide if the land between W Esp and Vets is its own neighborhood or belongs to one of these historical neighborhoods.

While considering this, I would be open to extending Old Metairie’s southern border from Airline to the railroad track just south of Airline. I believe historically that these few homes fit better with Old Metairie than Shrewbury or Old Jefferson. As always, if you can provide a good reason why they should not be in Old Metairie I am always open to a good argument.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Surely you have old photos or maps to examine before Tonti and Lake Reality or whatever it was called built those damnable apartment complexes.

Absolutely not!

Wasn't that the old Cold Storage Road area?

That is where they tossed the dead bodies that they wanted found because they did not want them found in Metairie.

Airline is a hard border. And that far is mostly because JS had his super grocery over there. :)

We always called that area, “over toward the Lake.”
