Here's a thought: What if Chavis/whoever shows up before the bowl game and teaches tackling AND defending the option in time for the bowl game? Sounds like a stretch, I know, but if Miles can work a deal with him before the SECCG, then there's enough time for the Chief to mold his soldiers.

I'd like to see this happen. Why not make the move now, whoever it is going to be, and start getting systems implemented and feet wet. This would help recruiting as well. We still have some reeling in to do for some of the top defensive talent on the board.

Bowls are worried fans won't travel more than a day's drive & stay more than 1 night in hotels. The downturn in the economy will affect decisions like spending a few $100 to attend a 3rd rate bowl.

I've never been to the Peach Bowl so I can't comment on prices specifically. I assume the seats in the lower levels & between the 30 yd lines cost more.
I suspect that w/ GA Tech in the game, there won't be any tix available below face value anywhere. They ended the season on a high note so their fans must surely be jacked up to knock off another SEC team. Plus, they don't need to budget much on travel or pay for a hotel room.

Stop the panic.. The Tiger's Defense will stop the running game.. no problem..

This is what the program needs.. a big opportunity to bring home a good win and turn this team around.

The option is SO different than 95% of what you typically prepare for, and only having a week during the season to prepare makes it even tougher. But, we have a month to prepare for nothing but the option. I have faith (I don't really know why ) that we'll have success slowing them down.

But your acting like this is a top 10 team coming to town. Reality is, they are a one dimensional offense and outgunned by LSU at every position on the field.

Being a very big fan of both teams, I can tell you that you are flat out wrong on this one H-Town. GT's D-Line is better than LSU's D-Line. Michael Johnson, Vance Walker, and Darryl Richard will all be likely day 1 picks in April and the other starter, sophomore Derrick Morgan, is at least as good. Jonathan Dwyer >>>>> Charles Scott, Keiland Williams, Richard Murphy. Imagine Scott with just as much power with a little more wiggle and MUCH more speed and you have Dwyer. Morgan Burnett > All of our safetys including Chad Jones. Demaryius Thomas would definitely be a starting WR at LSU this year. Josh Nesbitt > LSU QB, he is like if JJ had played all year long and were a little shiftier. The big advantage LSU has is the offensive line is much much better than GTs. I would also say LSU has significantly better cover corners unless GT gets Jahi Word Daniels back and then it is closer.

I have watched EVERY game both teams have played this year and can say with confindence that I hate this matchup as an LSU fan and love it as a GT fan. You are clueless if you think Paul Johnson is not a good football coach. He knows the flex-bone offense backwards and forwards and makes adjustments on the fly. There is a reason he was able to turn Navy into a consistent bowl team, the guy can flat out coach. At Navy he took over an 0-11 team, had to play D-1A football with no D-1A athletes, and managed to have success. Now he has the athletes. Paul Johnson vs. Malleveto is a mismatch of epic proportions.

The option is not that hard to defend if the players know their roles.

And there you have it. Know your responsibility and assignment on the field and you shut down the option all day long.

I think that's a bit of a simplistic view on things. That's like saying the way to stop TT's offense is to man up on the WRs and not let them get open and you've shut it down.

Plus no one in the coaching game today knows/ understands the 3O as well as Paul Johnson. Whenever an opponent gets something working to try to stop it, he'll make changes. Hence how we came out in the 3rd quarter against UGAg and threw up 26 points in the third.

And to think this is a fluke year for the jackets, is just wrong. GT is doing it this year with 10 less scholarships b/c we were on probation, plus CPJ is doing it with players recruited for a pro-style offense, wait until he gets players that actually fit his system.

If you play GT, you need to start prepping the defense now. They are a machine. Believe me, I know.

we had players who didn't meet grades (and were consequently ineligible) play.

No way LSU can beat GT, I hope we don't go to Atlanta. GT would easily hang 50 on our defense. JL might set the record for picks.

Hell, a ten year old vs. Malleveto is a mismatch of epic proportion, much less a coach of Paul Johnson's calibur.

On the other hand, if we get a Chavis led D in here in time for bowl game, i think we can beat them.

I think it is going to be a great game. LSU has 10 times the talent that Tech has and Tech is very young. Frankly so young they have no idea that they can't beat LSU.

For those that think they can shut down the option- I would tell you that it is harder than it looks. I think the biggest difference is the DBs are not used to being blocked as hard as they are every play. We block the corners so well that you have spread out to stop it. If you spread out- ACC POY will blow through the middle and hirt paydirt ala FSU and Miami.

I think that this will be a shoot out. We have a hard time with athletic QBs and we have a great game day coach.

I am looking forward to the game. If you end up section 303- look me up.
