I did this because she constantly gets lost driving around and calls me needing directions. Much easier to just look on the app where she is than try to figure it out based on her bad descriptions.

What's wrong with Apple Maps for her? Or does that interfere with her talking on speaker with the phone held near her mouth?

Same here. My wife has the directional sense of a blind man. So she has her location shared with me.
I am not directionally challenged so I don’t have my location shared with her.
And she’s never asked that I turn it on.
