If a standard suitcase-sized check bag was included in the ticket price, and carry-ons had to fit below the seat in front of you, a lot of bullshite would be avoided

Yeah forget all that. I don’t ever check a bag if I can help it. I can fit a weeks worth of stuff in my carry on and personal item. I always check in as soon as I can and pay for priority boarding just for the security of overhead space. There are few things I have less patience for than an airport baggage carousel

Im the exact opposite.. i almost never bring a carry-on, just a backpack .. and ill check a large suitcase.. fortunately though, i am not a ‘frequent flyer’ anymore.. Just speaking for myself personally, as an aisle guy myself- the only time i foresee this causing a problem is when I fly internationally, b/c then i check a large suitcase, bring a backpack AND a carry-on suitcase…. In that situation, i guess i will just have to make absolutely sure that every single thing i might need on the typical 15-20 hr flight, i have with me in my backpack since odds are they’ll make me check my carryon due to lack of bin space .
