I'm in Austin which has been one of the most expensive real estate markets in the past few years and you can still get single family homes for $300k in neighboring Buda, 20 minutes from downtown.

Not every house needs granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and smart home hubs.

Surprisingly I'm in a medium sized market and there are some decent homes in that range but you used to be able to get a really good home for that just 3 years ago
