Even if you’re in a film where the professionals were supposed to load it with blanks?

EVER. No matter the circumstances the only time to point a gun at something is if you intention is to shoot it. My son works in the movie industry and he is adamant, as are most people in the industry, that Baldwin did nothing wrong and the firearm master is to blame. The latter is probably true but Baldwin pointed the gun in the direction of a person. That is not something that should ever be done.

What's really troubling to me is the apparent support in the film industry for using actual guns instead of CGI...because it doesn't look right according to most people in the industry. That is just insane. So what? So what if 1 movie goer in 10,000 is put off by a CGI gun shot? My son and his co-workers I have met are adamant that using actual guns with proper controls in place is the only practical way to make a movie, basically because that is how it has always been done. My career in causal analysis has taught me that the best way to have an incident is to do things because that is how things have always been done.
