Henry Cavill is awesome and I wish they would stop fricking around and cast him as Bond already. But he's no Jack Aubrey. Russell Crowe was perfectly cast. Unfortunately, probably too old now for a sequel. HBO needs to do a big budget series. You could easily make multiple seasons with the book material.

Russell Crowe was perfectly cast. Unfortunately, probably too old now for a sequel.
But I think the current Hollywood would ruin it, though. They would have to flood it with forced diversity and girl power, and make the bad guy a symbol of some modern day political evil.
