My personal favorite roast beef poboy purveyor is Parasol’s. That said, I don’t get up that way as often anymore. The poboy at R & O’s was good the last time I had it, but I’m not a fan of their dining room, which I find overwhelmingly noisy, not to mention tainted by the memory of seeing Ronnie Lamarque there, ostentatiously stepping out on his first wife Carmela with the woman who became his second wife. My go-to choice for out-of-town visitors is Parkway. It combines decent food with a fun, evocative atmosphere, and the recent changes they’ve made to the facilities have only improved the experience, imo. Domilise’s is my runner-up pick, but only for visitors wanting a “real” New Orleans excursion.
