The amount of responsibility kids had for themselves back then was awesome. If you busted your arse or fell out of a tree, it was up to you to decide if you wanted to shake it off and keep playing or go home.
I don’t think young kids these days even have the opportunity to be able to fend for themselves like that.
Same goes with getting bullied, you figured out on your own how you wanted to handle it. Fight back, try to outsmart the dipshit, or go running home. You got to choose who you were going to be. I definitely do not remember a lot of adult intervention

Unless a bone was sticking out, and sometimes it was, you got a band aid or keep playing. Scars were badges of honor. My list:

Broken Leg (jumping )
6 stitches to head (dirt clubber war)
Massive concussion hospitalization almost died 18 stitches (street skates)
5 stitches to head eyebrow ( roughhousing)
Scar on nose ( knife slipped)
4 stitches to left hand (fight)
3 stitches to right hand (fight)
4 stitches behind ear (fight beer bottle to head)
Scar on left eyelid (fishing accident)
Burn on shin (motor cross)

And I wasn’t even one if the accident pron guys
