being bullied
Kids this age have had “bullying” pounded into their heads since they started school. I understand that real bullying does go on and often needs to be addressed. However, these kids now define any undesirable behavior directed at them as bullying, and, many times, it’s far from bullying. I’ve had students accuse other students of bullying them for things like looking at them in a way that they didn’t like or breaking up with them. Attempts at awareness quickly evolved into over generalizing.

This. My 2nd grader is always talking about being bullied. It’s kids picking on each other in her situation. But they get the “bullying” talk all the time at school.
