I have literally seen that happen - disgusting - all hell should come down on the coaches that allow this - and fired if they command it.

and the firing should negate any provisions of any contract they have

No one is going to fire a coach for trying to help their team within the rules. Right now there are no injury rules so a coach would be dumb not to have a player lay down if the offense is going super fast.

Honestly LSU was really dumb not to do this multiple times against OM and it definitely cost us.

Now as a spectator I hate it and want a rule that makes any player that goes out with injury to have to sit the remainder of the drive. But as the rules stand now, any coach not using this tactic to slow down hurry up offenses is doing his team a disservice.
