Grapevine help

Catawpa grapes, first time trying to grow and need some advice. Vine has been growing like crazy, got to top wire of trellis (5ft) about a month ago.
I read to pinch it back about an inch below and it will split and create two laterals to run each way along the wire. I did this and really only one of them has taken off. Its probably 2 feet or more down the left side while the right side is barely growing if at all.
I am trying to fix this before we go dormant, just looking for advice. Should I cut it back to an inch below the top wire again and see if it splits better?
TIA

It's October. Watch it explode in the spring. Pinching off the top sends a distress signal to the plant which causes it to grow laterally from my understanding and experiences. If you pinched the top off then the signal was sent and what needs to happen is happening. For my grapes and blackberries I pretty much disregard what growth happens in the fall, outside of roughly training it how I want, because I prune - both growth and tops - in early spring.
ETA: I've read where some folks say pinch the tops in the fall, and others say pinch the tops in early spring when pruning. Moreso for blackberries since my muscadines are established already, I've had better experiences pinching off the tops in early spring when I prune.

Thanks, appreciate the information. I guess I will just let it roll how it is through the winter and see what's going on in the Spring. Anything I need to do to "winterize" or just let it ride?

Just be sure they don't hear any spicy gossip for no less than 30 days. They should dry right up.
I'll be here all week! TIP your waiters.

I’m in the same zone. Let them do their thing and you should see it all come together when it starts budding after winter.
