This. Do people really think banks just accept what you tell them and loan out millions without any due diligence?

I don’t know the specifics of this case but it depends on the loan. If it’s a mortgage then the bank will obviously get an appraisal. If Trump guarantees a loan a bank might ask for a personal balance sheet and they will not get an appraisal on every asset. So those values can be manipulated. Not saying they were in this case, just providing context.
